I drew another page :)
I have a lot of stuff on my mind. so it's helpful to have this comic so I can ignore all of that shit. Because you kindof solve problems when you ignore them for so long that they become status quo. This kind of thinking is probably mankind's down fall or something but whatever. stop being so dramatic.

I got a gig as an interior artist for a small denver comic publication. fucking finally I have a comic gig. God fucking dammit finally. I've got a page rate and a script and a deadline and everything. I'm gonna make this comic the dopest shit you motherfuckers have ever laid eyes on. buckle your damn baby carseat web of seat belts and safety harnesses cause this shit will fuck you up or I'm not Jonas Goddammit McCluggage. I'll be pimping this shit hard as soon as it's buy-able no doubt.

bic pen and my crayola paints.
I did this on the road.
I'm trying to get better at how I draw dark skin, you gotta approach it differently. The highlights n shadows don't work the same as they do on crackers. Of all the models I've drawn from life, and I've drawn many, only two of them have been black.
things are fucky rn but I'll try to upload a comic page soon.

aw man okay I'm in Jackson Hole Wyoming now.
Me and Rocksalt hitched through western Colorado to Salt Lake City where we chilled with my slc pals on this sick farming collective. We dumpstered piles of premo grub, chased rabbits, and got a tip for this easy hop out of Ogden to Oakland. We waited for eight hours and then caught a double stack (we rode a suicide car for two hours before we found one witha floor :p ) and rode that for 30 hours. It was some of the most astounding shit I've ever lived through: we saw the sunset over the salt flats, and the stars over nevada, we survived the reno yard in the unshaded-mid-day-heat, and we carved through the sierra nevadas. It was transformative, more than i could describe. After that we battled our way north till we reached Portland.
Portland was neat, I read a ton of comics and got coffee with a dude from Darkhorse (after calling and emailing him a hundred thousand times) that gave me some solid advice and he told me he'd introduce me to some writers and I got to check out the building. plus free comics. plus free coffee. Not sure what the next step is. I'm bad at shaking hands and making connections. I made it to Jackson though. So while I flounder around in the comic world I can still make paper baling hay and trimming up fancy cabins and whatever. This is as far as my plan went so now it's all improv.

Im a vagabond, anarchist, antagonist, artist.

I like to pick flowers, I like to jump in puddles, I like making clothes, I like the nighttime, I like adventure, I like to sing. Im hard of hearing, Im short on common sense, Im a hateful, compassionate, contradicting, ageist, tormented, confused, babbling tool.

I have a hard time forgiving people, I can be very insencitive toward countless subjects, my jokes are weak, I might lie from time to time.

"when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change" - Ben (The Signal)

I sit on a man's back, chocking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back - Leo Tolstoy

The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video arena... The televison screen is the retina of the mind's eye. Therefore, the television screen is part of the physical sctructure of the brain. Therefore, whatever appears on the televsion screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore, television is reality, and reality, is less than television. - Prof. Brian O' Blivion (VIDEODROME)

"...I have no wish to take part in such mindless praise. If faith cannot make it into a holy deed to murder one's own son, then let the judgement fall on Abraham as on anyone else... The ethical expression for what Abraham did is that he was willing to murder Isaac; the religious expression is that he was willing to sacrifice Isaac; but in this contradiction lies the very anguish that can indeed make one sleepless.." - Soren Kierkegaard (fear and trembling)

Everybody wants to get on the Van
Gogh boat. There's no trip so horrible that someone won't take it. The idea of the unrecognized genius slaving away in a garret is a deliciously foolish one. We must credit the life of Vincent Van Gogh for really sending this myth into orbit. - Rene (Basquiat)

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-oo!
I does what I likes and I likes what I do

Today I'm a screever and as you can see
A screever's an artist of 'ighest degree
And it's all me own work
From me own memory

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-oo!
I draws what I likes and I likes what I drew
No remuneration do I ask of you
But me cap would be glad of a copper or two
me cap would be glad of a copper or two...
-Bert the Chimneysweep (Mary Poppins)

If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart? - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

DUDE! Your art is the shit. I found your stuff on Comic Fury yesterday and I've been reading through it since then; I wanna buy the book now. And tell all my trail friends. I see a lot of them in you, it's crazy! Crazy-AWESOME, that is!

None of them sat down and made comics about it, though. And most artists I know prefer the adventures you can have safely on a TV screen. My own adventure was a pretty calculated one.

Cheers for this awesome window into your world!

City and comics, city and comics, cats and clutter and coffee n' crap. Living vicariously through goonface Jonas! But by golly, as soon as I reach a good conclusion with my own comic I'm off like a shot

I'm trying to find the balance between comics and that wandering life. It seems when I'm doing one I can't do the other, and that's just how it is. How do you manage it?

those are good things.
with AOJ I would draft it while I was on the trail and then draw it whenever I got home. I also got a lotta friends that have tablets so during my homeless/computerless stints I would rock out comics on other peeps comps.
I just draw until I'm in danger of combustion from lack of adventure, and then I adventure until I'm risking combustion to lack of drawing. I'm the human embodiment of a dog chasing it's tail.

up until recently I was using photoshop elements (for layouts and coloring) and corel 4 (for linework) but then I took the dive and got a photoshop subscription so now I just use that for everything. It's pretty awesome. or it works for me anyways.
